COTA Australia welcomes the opportunity to provide comment on the draft terms of reference for the Financial Systems Inquiry.

COTA supports the needs for a broad inquiry into the financial system as there is some evidence that the current arrangements are not adequate to deal with the increasing size and complexity of financial services in Australia. COTA often receives correspondence from older people.

Australia’s population is ageing and this will accelerate as the baby boomers move into older age. In 2011 there were 3 million people over the age of 65, making up around 14 per cent of the population and this figure will rise to over 8 million in 2050 or 25 per cent of the population.

COTA Australia welcomes the opportunity to provide comments in response to the Issues Paper on the Review of Disability Standards for Accessible Transport.
