The Australian Senate’s Community Affairs committee inquired into the Aged Care Bill 2024 between 16 September 2024 and 4 November 2024. Submissions to the inquiry and the inquiry report can be found HERE.
COTA Australia’s submission was informed by the extensive consultation we conducted about the new aged care act in September – October 2023, consultations on the exposure draft (December – February 2024), a public webinar with older people and their responses to a short survey about the new Act after its release a survey (September 2024).
In addition, we have held rapid conversations with peer organisations, grassroots advocates, our state and territory member COTAs and our national policy council.
COTA Australia made a submission to the Aged Care Bill 2024 inquiry noting 86 recommendations for improvements.
