Policy Committee

The COTA Australia Policy Committee (CPC) is a standing committee of the Board. It is responsible for ensuring COTA Australia develops robust, evidence-informed policies that achieve real improvements in the lives of older Australians. The Committee ensures that rigorous processes are in place so the Board can confidently approve and adopt policies.

The Chair of the Policy Committee is a Board Director, appointed following the COTA Australia AGM.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Make recommendations to the Board on policy.
  • Set policy priorities on an annual basis, guided by the Strategic Plan and input from policy consultative structures.
  • Implement the COTA Australia policy framework and appropriate assurance measures.
  • Pressure test policies in relation to timing, political environment and appropriateness for older people.
  • Monitor and track the policy review schedule and the success of existing policies.
  • Ensure the Committee stays informed about key issues, matters and priorities affecting older people, including those with diverse needs and those most at risk.
