Have you been affected by delays in Aged Care Services? Share Your Story

The Australian Senate is holding an important inquiry into aged care services. Right now, they’re investigating the delays older people face every day to remain safely at home – from long waits for assessments, to being unable to find available Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) services in their area, or waiting too long for a Home Care Package.

You can help shine a light on what’s really happening.

If you’re an older person, or their carer, family member or friend, who is:

  • waiting for aged care services,
  • receiving any services, or
  • stopped receiving aged care services.

There are two options:

  1. Make your own submission directly to the Senate Committee by 22 August: Submit your story to Parliament
  2. Tell your story through COTA Australia by completing the short form below and help amplify the voice of older Australians in Parliament.
Please submit your response by 5:00pm Sunday, 17 August 2025.

Your story adds to the bigger picture – helping us show how aged care delays are impacting lives, including:

  • How long older people are waiting for aged care services
  • What happens to people while they wait — physically, emotionally, and financially
  • The impact on families, carers, health services and aged care providers
  • How life changes once support finally begins
  • What needs to change to make the system work better for everyone

You can choose to share your name or remain anonymous.

Optional demographic questions are included at the end of the form, if you’re comfortable sharing them.
