In this submission COTA Australia provides recommendations regarding draft rules on funding contributions by the Commonwealth government and individuals.
It is important that the new Aged Care Act rules ensure that aged care participants are protected from unclear and unreasonable fees and charges. Older people applying for hardship should not be charged “higher”, extra, or additional fees.
COTA Australia is still finalising its position on Higher Everyday Living Fees (HELF) and will provide a supplementary submission on this.
