COTA Australia has made a submission to the Senate Community Affairs Legislation Committee on the Aged Care and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2025. Our submission welcomes aspects of the Bill but recommends targeted amendments to strengthen transparency, protect older people’s rights, and improve timely access to care.
We address issues including cancellation policies, substitute decision makers, allocation of places, Higher Everyday Living Fee agreements, contribution rate timeframes, star ratings reporting, and ministerial oversight – ensuring older Australians can make informed decisions and receive fair treatment.
