Gerard is an Executive Consultant, and a significant contributor to development of industry advice and policy positions in the aged care sector.

Gerard’s career includes a decade as Commissioner for Senior Victorians (2013-2023) and Ambassador of Elder Abuse Prevention (from 2016). He was appointed in advisory roles to the Victorian Aged Care Response Centre in 2020, as Deputy Chair, Elder Abuse and Safeguarding Advisory Group, 2019 and member Department of Health Expert Advisory Group on Mental Health Reform.

Gerard is currently the Board President at Wintringham Inc. and Wintringham Housing Ltd, a role which he has held since 2020. Previously, Gerald was both Vice President (2017-2020) and Director (from June 2015). In 2023, Gerard was appointed to Board Director of Council on the Ageing, Victoria.

In 2023, Gerard was awarded the Public Service Medal, Kings Birthday Honours.
