COTA Australia welcomed the opportunity to provide comment on the National Dementia Action Plan Public Consultation Paper. Feedback on the paper will inform the development of the National Dementia Action Plan 2023-33; a roadmap to drive service and system improvements. We see a major strength of this forthcoming Action Plan is it is to be informed and guided by the voices and experiences of people affected by dementia, both directly and indirectly.
In relation to the consultation paper, we give in principle support to the proposed vision, objective and actions. From our perspective, the paper sets a clear direction for forging a well-functioning and capable system which places at its centre the holistic care and support needs of people living with dementia. We look forward to hearing how governments will use the current consultation outcomes to progress the Action Plan, and welcome involvement in the preparation of its first Blueprint 2023-26.
